A PAIR of young Ledbury and District Swimming Club members will be competing against the best in the country after qualifying for some prestigious events.
Twelve year-old Luke Hopkins has become the first ever Ledbury member to qualify for the Scottish Summer Meet being held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh from July 11 to 14.
Hopkins will be in action in the 50-metre breastroke,100m breastroke 100m backstroke.
Meanwhile 13 year-old Oliver Jones, from Belmont, is rounding off his season with qualification for the British Summer Championships, which are being held at Tollcross International Sports Centre in Glasgow later this month.
Jones is ranked in the top 24 of his age group in the country in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke.

The following week Jones will compete at the Swim England National Summer Meet, being held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
The event is Swim England's biggest domestic swimming event of the year.
Jones will compete in the 200m and 400m individual medley and 200m butterfly.
This meet will also be live streamed.
Both swimmers are coached by Rob Young and Duncan Loraine.
They said: "This shows that hard work and a dedication to training really does pay off.
"The last swimmer from Ledbury and District to compete at British Championships was Tom Stokes in 2008."
