A 12-YEAR-OLD swimmer came away with a host of personal best results after travelling to Scotland to compete.
Ledbury & District swimmer Luke Hopkins took part in the Scottish Summer Meet in the Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh.
Appearing at the championships for the first time, Hopkins got off to flying start in the boy's 12 to 13 age category 100-metre Breaststroke, finishing fifth in the final in a time of 1:21.77 – beating his personal best time achieved only two months prior by an incredible 3.6 seconds.
Taking a large amount of confidence from the 100m, Luke then equalled his fifth place finish in the shorter 50m event, again lowering his best time by a considerable amount, finishing in a time of 36.01 seconds.
His campaign was completed with a very respectable 11th place in the Boys 12/13 100m Backstroke.
The coaching team at Ledbury, said: “Luke has shown tremendous commitment towards his swimming this season and the results are clear to see. We're looking forward to seeing him push on again next year and see where his hard work and dedication can take him.”
