A TRIO of Herefordshire boxers remain undefeated in their bid to become National Champions.
South Wye Boxing Academy fighter Othman Said and Hereford Boxing Academy’s David Smith continued in the competition last weekend by beating opponents from Merseyside.
Smith faced Merseyside & Cheshire Champion Harvey Shuker from JC’s ABC (Liverpool)
The Hereford youngster stepped into the ring with total confidence and outclassed his opponent with his slick boxing abilities.
The bout started with Smith advancing forward and pressuring Shuker with combination shots from all angles.
In the second round the youngster started with a similar game plan as the first round forcing Shuker onto his back foot constantly.
The referee had no choice but stop the bout in the second round giving Smith a winning unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Said faced Tom Ivers, from the Solly Boxing Club in the heart of Liverpool.
The first round was pretty close with both fighter's styles complimenting each other.
Into the second round Said started to work out his opponent and found his range.
The third round saw the South Wye Academy Boxer continue to outbox and manoeuvre his opponent leading to victory.
South Wye Boxing Academy secretary Vince McNally said: "It was a pleasure to watch the bout.
"We knew he was going to be a tough opponent as the Solly have produced more National Champions than any other club.”
Roberts got a bye in this round and will be boxing in the final for the Northern title.
The boxers will continue the competition by heading to Yorkshire this weekend to compete.
