A TEAM of Herefordshire kart drivers fought hard to come away with a podium place at Llandow Raceway in round two of the winter endurance series.
Competed over four hours it was not just the distance that competitors had to battle against as a very frosty and cold morning meant a new set up was required as ice still covered some parts of the circuit.
As the series only allows slick tyres the conditions were going to prove difficult.
After a series of fine tuning the Herefordshire trio of Mark Beven, Stu Smith Cam Wheatley had it right for qualifying with Smith putting the kart into third position.
Once action got underway two good runs by Bevan and Wheatley meant the team were lying fourth overall.
With 25 minutes of racing remaining the trio needed to catch and overtake the third place kart 23 seconds ahead of them to clinch the final podium position.
With four minutes left of racing it was job done with the trio taking third overall.
The team had two additional sponsors for this round CMW Electrical and S&S Plastering.
There is one more round next month to finish the series for the trio.
