HEREFORD Racecourse are holding their prestigious ‘Ladies' Day’ this weekend and organisers are urging the whole community to come and enjoy a day at the races.
The race meeting is one of the biggest days on the course’s calendar and after recent race abandonments due to the flooding organisers are looking forward to attracting a big crowd.
"We're looking forward to it and the forecast is good with sunshine and showers,” said racecourse chief executive Rebecca Davies.
“The ground is heavy at the moment but is expected to dry.
"The weather in the last few weeks has been naturally frustrating (to have fixtures cancelled) but you have to put it into perspective as plenty of people are in a far worse position.”
This year’s ladies can ‘grab a grand’ and be in with a chance of walking away with £1,000 cash as top prize for the ‘best dressed ladies’.
The ‘best dressed couple’ will win £300 cash and a stocked wine fridge courtesy of Appliance Solutions Ledbury.
There is also a host of hospitality packages including ‘bottomless prosecco afternoon tea’.
There are six jump races with the first one beginning at 2.20pm and last starting at 5.15pm.
"The whole community has had a really tough time and Saturday's fixture is a chance to come and support a local business,” added Davies.
"Come and forget your worries for a family friendly day of racing."
