FORMER Hereford title-winning captain Joel Edwards has signed for Westfields.
The 28-year-old defender who formerly played for Westfields, moved to Hereford FC and was made captain.
Edwards led Hereford to six trophies in two seasons as well as captaining them at Wembley in the FA Vase Final.
He was released by Hereford in July 2017 to join Welsh Premier League side Cardiff Met, while studying for a university degree in sports coaching.
Edwards helped the Archers to victory in the Nathaniel MG Cup and into the Europa League after his side won the Welsh Premier Europa League play-off on penalties.
"I know Joel and regard his as a good friend," said Westfields manager Phil Glover.
"I kept an eye on him and where he was playing with Cardiff Met last year and he has played in the Europa League qualifiers.
"He's an excellent lad and Cardiff Met play a good standard. Other teams at step two and three (of the non-league pyramid) were in for him.
"A factor was with him moving back to the area which has helped massively. He is a leader on the pitch and off it and is exactly what we want to make us stronger than last year.
"We already have a strong squad but are always looking to strengthen. Other teams around us will strengthen and will be looking to challenge us.
"I've spoken to everybody either face to face or via video call this week.
"We are looking at other things as well, but the majority of the squad is still with us and one or two players will go."
