HEREFORD Pegasus Ladies stole a march in the league over their city rivals with a 2-0 victory over Westfields Women.
With both sides unbeaten in the Midwest Counties Female League coming into the tie it was chance to put an early marker down.
Pegasus skipper Emily Morgan played a crucial role for her side and played through striker Roxana Dinescu to open the scoring in the first half.
Morgan also created the second goal playing the ball inside the full-back and allowing Amy Bradley to take advantage and score.
"It was a brilliant performance led by Emily Morgan," said Pegasus chief executive Kevin Bishop.
"It was a good game and we could have scored a couple more.
"At the other end our goalkeeper had to make one or two saves but our defence played well."
Last season Hereford Pegasus, playing as Hereford Lads Club, won the league before the side moved to Old School Lane during the long off-season.
"I'm really pleased to have the girls back here and a lot of them used to play for the club," added Bishop.
"It's nice to have them playing at the ground and the a good crowd watched the game.
"For me it's also special as my two daughters play for the team, Ellie and Sarah Bishop."
Elsewhere in the league Bartestree Women suffered an 11-0 defeat to current league leaders Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies FC Development.
Pegasus sit level on points with the early league leaders but have a game in hand.
This weekend Westfields Women face a tough trip to Bromsgrove.
