Colin Palmer and Dave Hall aka "Snoopey and the bloody red Baron", after languishing in the lower echelons of the league re-found their form having been stung onto action by the previous indignity of receiving the "wooden spoon".
Therefore, taking the "Top Gun" award by a clear 7 pts from Helen Powersl/ Daniel Pearce Higgins was particularly sweet.
However, they should beware, there is a clear indication that competitors make an extra effort to defeat 'Top Guns'.
This was evidenced by last week's TGs, Isobel Bird and Elizabeth Jones crashing out of the Aces division together with Simon Evans/Peter Quick with -24 and -27 pts respectively.
A similar fate befell Liz Drew/ Adrian Lunt the 5 times winner of the TG prize mugged by the King's erstwhile minnows, Mary Organ/James Brown and Steve Grisman/Sue Parnaby by 5 pts and 2 pts respectively.
Liz and Adrian totalled -23 pts and this weeks "wooden spoon".
Richard Gould/Richard Priestley aka "the Lion Hearts" fought their way to the top of the King's and, together with Andrew Joyce/Frances Middleton, promotion.
Following the coaching provided by Helen Powers it has been assessed that the overall standard of bridge in the VP league has an "R rate" of well over 1.
Therefore, team challenges have been issued to local clubs but to date none have dared to pick up the challenge.
Team manager Mick Heir; mickheir@btinternet.com awaits your challenge.

Entries are closed for the VP Charity Christmas Bridge Cup. The draw will be made on November 1.
