HEREFORD Pegasus claimed the main prize on finals day for this season’s Herefordshire Mind Herefordshire FA Veterans League.
The Old School Lane club defeated local rivals Hereford Lads Club FC 1-0 at The County Ground in the Shield final on Sunday afternoon concluding a competitive league.
Corey Hyde netted the only goal of the match, with 13 minutes remaining on the clock, after Pegasus broke quickly from their own half and the striker was on hand to fire the ball into the net after Lads Club goalkeeper was unable to hold the initial effort on goal.
In the other tournament, Holme Lacy Football Club retained the Herefordshire Mind Herefordshire FA Veterans League Plate following a 2-1 over Belmont Wanderers Football Club at The County Ground.
Lacy legend, Jean-luc Alvarez, spoke of his pride after the final whistle at the conclusion of his debut season in the Veterans League.
“This is probably the greatest moment of my career even surpassing the goal I scored for my beloved Rhayader Town Football Club that helped defeat our local rivals to win the Radnorshire Cup final six years ago.”
Sinkums lifted the Trophy after beating Hay in the final.
