HEREFORDSHIRE farmer Roger Chilman bounced back from his Woodpecker Stsges disappointment with a superb second overall on the Trackrod Historic Rally in the ultra-fast Yorkshire forests last weekend.
With regular co-driver Patrick Walsh still unavailable Iwan Jones stepped in yet again in the Securcom,Morspan,Dansford, Connop & Sons, Evans Cleaning backed Escort RS1800
The event started on the Friday night with a long 11-mile test in Dalby forest and Chilman stopped the clocks two seconds up on nearest rivals Nick Elliott and Matt Robinson.
Saturday's five stages included such iconic tests as Staindale, Langdale .
From the go Chilman struggled with over inflated tyre pressures and struggled to stay with both Elliott and Robinson over the morning loop.
With his tyres sorted Chilman went much better in the remaining stages and was pleased with second overall.
"It's been a good day and nice to be back in the Yorkshire forests again. We struggled in the mornings loop, but thanks to Iwan again for doing a great job.
Two other local crews ventured across to Weston Park near Telford for Owen MC Agbo Stages on Sunday.
Hereford's Tim Taylor had the experienced Dan Evans and in only his third ever event he finish 37th overall and sixth in class.
Michelle Petrie returned alongside John Petrie Motorsport prepared Peugeot 106 with John co-driving they finished 50th.
