A HEREFORDSHIRE tennis club had some special guests recently when they celebrated their centenary year.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic delaying celebrations a year Madley Tennis Club celebrated their 100th year with a Sunday lunch at the Hereford Green Dragon.
Guests of honour were Mr and Mrs Tony Henman, who are parents of Tim Henman OBE who in the past reached the Wimbledon semi-finals.
This was organised by the present president of the club Robert Andrews, who's late wife Gill was secretary of the club for 46 years up until 2016.
The Madley tennis members have this year enjoyed matches around Herefordshire and Worcester Clubs, with the men's doubles B team winning the Division 5 West League.
Club members enjoy Wednesday evening and Saturday morning tennis get togethers and enjoyed a social members competition morning which was well organised by the club secretary Antonia Hastings
The club treasurer Tom Packham is supportive of the lockdown financial support from Hereford Council which has enabled the club to continue with projects.
