KINGTON Ladies Hockey Club skipper Rachel Venables scored a hat-trick as they beat local rivals Presteigne in their South Wales Prem 2 league clash.
The last time the sides met ended in a 2-2 draw so another tough contest was in prospect for both sides.
The game started strongly, with both teams fighting hard to gain dominance.
However, it was Kington captain Venables who scored the first goal following an interception from defender Ruth Smith.
Kington kept fighting with Venables having a shot on goal to put Kington 2-0 up.
Both teams had short corners, resulting in no change in score, leaving half time as 2-0 to Kington.
Determined to seal the win after half-time the Kington women gave it their all.
Some great runs were made by wingers, Rachel Smith and Jess Evans resulting in captain Venables scoring the final goal, securing herself her second hat-trick of the season.
Presteigne did not make it an easy match and Kington had to keep their defence tight, resulting in three defenders getting man of the match.
Kington defended several short corners and goalkeeper, Abby Reynolds, made some impressive saves.
The final score was 3-0 to Kington.
