THE newly named Herefordshire Football League will consist of an increased 18 teams this season.
Joining the increased Premier Division are Coppertops FC, Gloucester City U21s, Sporting Inkberrow, Welland FC, Westfields Development and Worcester United while Kington Town have moved down from the Hellenic League.
“These are certainly exciting times for the Herefordshire Football League” said new league chairman Nige Bradley.
“Last season saw the Premier Division obtain NLS (National League System) regional feeder league status (step 7 of the non-league football pyramid); and this provides many benefits for Teams; including extra funding and the opportunity to gain promotion and move up the football pyramid, something not seen before in Herefordshire.
“For 2022-23, the Premier Division has grown stronger and will now host 18 teams. It stands to be a very competitive and entertaining division.
"Following the Covid-19 lockdowns, there was a noticeable decrease in people’s commitment to Football; however, as the world tries to move forward from those terrible times; the Herefordshire Football League is hopeful that an organised, enjoyable environment - with ever-improving facilities - will see an uptake in the 11v11 local game."
Division One of the Herefordshire Football League contains 10 teams including new side Worcester United Reserves.
Meanwhile, Division Two has nine teams including new sides including Lickhill Colts and The Broadleys.
“There are opportunities for everyone here," added Bradley.
"Yes, the Premier Division is looking strong, for those with ambitions of developing; but - for those that are starting off, slowing down, finding their way back, or anything else - we have two other divisions to provide teams with a platform to showcase their abilities and enjoy their Football.
“We have players ranging from those moving up from under-16 football to players who continue to play well into their 40s and 50s.
"There are many teams that are more than welcoming of a few more players, as people enjoy their local Saturday afternoon kick-about."
The Herefordshire Football League is looking to partner with a local business to provide sponsorship support for the upcoming season and beyond.
"With over 840,000 hits on the league’s FA Full Time’ webpage; as well as reports in the local press; the league hits a wide audience in Herefordshire, as well as the surrounding counties; providing great opportunities to advertise your business," added Bradley.
Anybody looking for further information on sponsorship or support with finding/creating teams to play for can email Herefordshire Football League secretary Ben.Archer@herefordshirefa.com
The Herefordshire Football League 2022-23 Season is scheduled to kick-off for Premier Division Teams on Saturday, August 20; and for Division One & Two teams on Saturday, September 3.
