HEREFORD FC have signed talented midfielder Alex Babos on a one-year deal from National League North opponents Banbury United.
The central midfielder started his career with Derby County as a youngster and progressed through to the under-23 ranks.
During his time with Derby the youngster spent loan spells with Spanish side Real Union and FC United of Manchester.
The Wales under-21 youngster was released at the end of the 2019/20 season and has since played for King’s Lynn Town, Alfreton Town before joining Banbury for the last two years - making 45 appearances last season.
Hereford boss Paul Caddis said that Babos will bring a ‘calmness’ to the Bulls midfield next season alongside creative player Aurio Teixeira.
He told the club’s website: “Alex is a player who, after speaking to him about the possibility of joining our club, was really hungry, enthusiastic and excited to become part of our rebuild moving forward. After a successful season at Banbury in 22/23, in which he showed the robustness and fitness base that is needed to be a part of my squad by making more than 50 appearances, I am absolutely delighted to have secured his signature on a one-year deal.
“Alex is a midfielder who will take the ball in any area of the pitch and who has the personality and confidence to take control in pressurised situations and bring a calmness to our play. He has a strong, driven personality, which will work well with our other recent signing, Aurio (Teixeira), and I am excited to see the way their qualities will complement each other in the middle of the pitch.
“I’d also like to expand on my recent thanks to our fans for the fantastic, ever-growing season ticket sales, because Alex was particularly impressed by the rate that tickets are being bought and is really excited to play at our football club in front of our supporters.
“As has been said previously, your support really does make a huge difference and I’m confident that my players will be able to send our loyal fans home from games knowing that, at the very least, they have given 100% effort, 100% of the time.”
