WESTFIELDS midfielder Joel Edwards will welcome his former Welsh Premier Division side to allpay.park for a pre-season game.
Phil Glover’s side have been invited to contest the HFA Senior Invitation Trophy in pre-season after their HFA County Cup victory last season.
They will play Cardiff Met on Thursday, July 20, in the county’s flagship Invitation final (kick-off 7.45pm).
A few seasons ago Cardiff Met were playing in the Europa League and at that stage had Fields’ skipper Edwards in their line-up.
Edwards now leads Westfields as they aim to get promoted into step-four of the non-league pyramid this season after four successive years in the competitive Hellenic League Premier Division.
Chief Executive and secretary Andy Morris who starts his 57th season at the club said: “It’s a big season for us.
“Phil Glover our manager has worked hard with the retention of our squad and we have an impressive run of pre-season Friendlies so we want to hit the ground running when the league programme opens up in August.”
Westfields have announced that they have re-signed Matt McDonald, Josh Hunt and Steve Davies from last season’s squad.
Glover has also added young goalkeeper Jack Oxenham to their side who has signed from city rivals Hereford Pegasus.
“Jack has all the attributes to become a very good goalkeeper, we continue to strive to have the best young players in the county developing at our club,” said Westfields boss Glover.
“I’ve kept an eye on Jack over the last couple of seasons and I know we can improve his game, going into an experienced dressing room will help him kick on, but make no mistake this lad is a real talent.
“As with all the squad it will be a clean slate in pre-season for everyone and it really is over to them to show me and my staff who is ready to run through brick walls for us this season.”
Westfields have also added Danny Scheppel and Simon Rawle into their backroom staff for the forthcoming season.
