WESTFIELDS have announced Scott Russell as their new first team manager ahead of their game against Wantage on Saturday.
Russell was goalkeeping coach at Lincoln City and Hereford Fc before managing at Welsh Clubs Monmouth Town and Builth Wells.
“I’m delighted to be given the managers role at Westfields FC. It’s a club that I was part of as a junior and currently have the club and West Midlands record for being the youngest player to play for the first team at only 14.
“Between myself and the coaching team I will be bringing in I can promise that we will be as professional as we possibly can on and off the pitch.
“We will work with all aspect of the club from the development and women’s teams and across the junior section, I am a big campaigner for a good player pathway and for everyone at the club to be valued.
“I like my teams to play good attacking football, it’s important to let the players express themselves during games in order to get the best out of them. My teams will also be hard working, they will be fit and hard to break down with a strong identity.
“The squad needs some new additions to bolster numbers and create competition, so my backroom team and I will be pushing hard over the next couple of weeks in that area.
“I’ve watched several games this season and one thing I’ve thoroughly enjoyed is listening to the fans and supporters who make sure the games have a cracking atmosphere, I’m excited to get going.”
