HEREFORD Pegasus Ladies moved into fourth position in the West Midlands Women's Regional League First Division (South) following a 3-0 victory over Redditch United.
The hosts had already defeated their Worcestershire rivals on home turf last month in the Women's FA Cup and went into this league clash confident of repeating that success.
Peggy broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Ella Bowen's deep free-kick from near the right touchline flew over everyone in the penalty area and found the back of the net via the far post.
The lead was doubled within two minutes of the restart when Emily Lewis pounced on a poor back-pass to slide the ball past the visiting custodian.
Pegasus came close to increasing their advantage in the 28th minute after the Redditch United goalkeeper made a fine double save to deny Bowen and Lewis following good work by Sarah Bishop to deliver an inviting cross from out on the right side of the penalty area.
Redditch United enjoyed the best spell of the match before the half-time break but were unable to beat a home defence well marshalled by goalkeeper Katie Wood.
Pegasus increased their advantage when Bowen netted her second goal of the afternoon with a first-time finish into the far corner of the net following good work by Kaye Haggett on the left to create the opportunity.
Haggett then saw her fierce 25-yard drive parried by the visiting custodian in the 52nd minute before Bowen struck the rebound over the crossbar from close range.
Lewis had an opportunity to net her second of the afternoon, after running on to a 71st minute through ball, but could only direct her low shot into the near post side netting.
The closest that Redditch United came to reducing the deficit was when they struck the crossbar six minutes later after pouncing on an under-hit pass by Wood.
However, Pegasus managed to negotiate any further concerns in the closing stages and return to winning ways in the league.
