A GOAL either side of half-time resulted in Hereford Pegasus recorded a 2-0 victory at Wantage Town in a game the visitors dominated.
After recording two consecutive league wins Peggy were full of confidence and went close within the opening minute as Lewis Moseley had his shot cleared off the line.
In the ninth minute the hosts were reduced to 10 men when a clever through ball by Adam Newbury disected the two Wantage central defenders and Nathan Chowns-Higgs was felled from behind by Josh Dopson, resulting in the last defender being sent off.
Pegasus retained the ascendancy but were denied a goal by a combination of some sturdy defending and wayward finishing.
That was until the 43rd minute when skipper Lewis Fletcher played the ball to Harry Pitman on the left, he cut inside his marker before crossing to Jordan Williamson at the far post whose looping header beat the goalkeeper.
A minute after the half-time interval, Frank Pemberton played the ball beyond defenders, Chowns-Higgs out manoeuvred Will Edwards before rifling the ball into roof of the goal.
Pegasus then restricted their hosts to a handful of counterattacks without threatening the goal.
As the game went into additional time, the hosts pushed players forward but, the visiting defence held firm.
