KANE Kahaki’s header earned 10-man Westfields a 1-1 draw away at Thornbury Town in the Hellenic Premier Division.
On a heavy pitch Westfields enjoyed the better of the early stages and both Archie Muirhead and Harrison Summers had efforts before Westfields keeper Zeke Vivian saved on the goal-line as Thornbury hit back.
After a goalless first half Thornbury broke the deadlock from the penalty spot when Summers was penalised for a foul and Jim Brock beat Vivian to put Thornbury 1-0 ahead.
Scott Russell’s side were then reduced to 10 men when Summers was dismissed for a second yellow card.
Fields fought back and deservedly drew level when man of the match Kahaki headed home a Muirhead corner to put the sides level.
In a grandstand finish both sides went all out for a winner in the last 10 minutes but with Cam Davies in the centre of the Westfields’ defence the home side could not beat a hard-working 10-man team.
This Saturday (December 16) Westfields will be at home at allpay.park to Wantage Town (3pm kick-off) in a bid to gain revenge for the 3-1 defeat Westfields suffered at Wantage earlier in the season.
