WESTFIELDS recorded a seventh league victory of the season with a 3-0 score-line against basement side Wantage Town.
Fields honoured former manager Bobby Wynne with a minutes silence before the game.
Despite the final score home keeper Zeke Vivian made two full-length saves to keep the scores blank before his side scored twice in quick succession before the break.
Scott Russell’s side snatched the lead when skipper Adam Wakely pounced on a hesitating Wantage defence to shoot past Reese Thomas.
Then two minutes before the break Westfields doubled their score when Ollie Barns headed home an Archie Muirhead corner to make it 2-0 before the interval.
After the break Wantage came back at Fields and Vivian made two impressive saves to stop the visitors pulling a goal back.
Westfields settled the tie with a third goal when dangerman Muirhead was sent sprawling in the visitors’ penalty area and Barnes scored the resulting spot kick.
Vivian had to earn his clean sheet pulling off a flying save as the game ended 3-0.
Fields are at home again next Saturday when they host Brimscombe and Thrupp (3pm).
