HEREFORD Pegasus Ladies maintained their unbeaten home record this season with a 3-1 victory over Droitwich Spa at the KGD Stadium.
Pegasus built upon last weekend's 4-3 win at Redditch United Women in the West Midlands Regional Women's League First Division (South) to maintain their home unbeaten record this season with a 3-1 victory over Droitwich Spa at the KGD Stadium.
The two teams had met earlier this season at the same venue, with Pegasus progressing in the League Cup following a penalty shoot-out success over their Worcestershire opponents.
Their West Midlands Regional Women's League First Division (South) clash was expected to be another close encounter.
However, Roxana Dinescu came close to breaking the deadlock in the sixth minute but was denied by a brave save from the Spa custodian.
The hosts made the perfect start when Emily Lewis ran on to Emily Morgan through ball two minutes later before finding the net with a crisp finish.
Pegasus doubled their advantage six minutes later when Morgan played Dinescu through on goal and the Romanian striker found the back of the net with the goalkeeper to beat.
Dinescu doubled her personally tally when she netted from a Molly Powis corner in the 31st minute to hand the hosts a commanding three-goal advantage.
Droitwich Spa reduced the deficit in the 46th minute when the Worcestershire club sliced through their opponents before a cool finish past Katie Wood in the home goal.
Neither team were unable to add to the scoreline in the second half as a strong wind played its part in the proceedings and made it both difficult to play good passing football.
In the Herefordshire Women’s League, Westfields came out 5-3 winners from an entertaining game against Wellington.
Sophie Preece scored a hat-trick for Fields while Zoe Young scored the other two goals.
Marden Fusion Ladies were the day’s biggest scorers as they recorded a 7-3 win over Welland Ladies Reserves.
Jade Spencer netted a hat-trick for Marden while Megan Symonds scored a brace and Briar Short the other.
Finally, Belmont Wanderers Ladies were beaten 5-0 at home against title chasing Penybont United FC Ladies.
