WESTFIELDS gained full revenge over visiting Worcester Raiders when a hard-working display resulted in a 2-0 victory after Jordan Studdart own goal was followed by a Zac Powell second.
The victory was against a lively Worcester team who had beaten Westfields 1-0 away earlier in the season.
Defences were on top in the early stages with the hosts having one early chance when Adam Wakely got free but his low shot was deflected by the legs of the visitors keeper.
At the other end Kerion Blackburn twice delt with awkward crosses to thwart the Raiders attack.
Scott Russell’s team took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Wakely was put through on goal and saw his low shot canon off the Raiders post and defender Studdart turned the ball into his own net while trying to clear the danger.
After the break the game was littered with free-kicks and it was Raiders who came more into the game as Blackburn was forced to deny some good efforts.
Westfields defender Cam Davies then earned his man of the match award with a superb goal-line clearance after Blackburn was beaten by a shot.
The hosts then sent on teenage sub Zac Powell and he proved the super-sub. The Raiders’ keeper fisted clear a Dan Stoneman corner and Powell pounced to riffle home a shot from 12 yards out to seal the win with the vital second goal and give Westfields a fine 2-0 home win.
Next Saturday Westfields are at home to champions elect Worcester City at allpay Park (kick -off at 3pm).
Westfields are the only side to beat Worcester City this season after gaining a 2-1 away win in September and are looking for a league double.
