ANDY WILLIAMS came off the bench to score a late equaliser as his brace earned Hereford a point against Buxton.
Diego De Girolamo put the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time before Kyle Howkins’ own goal doubled their advantage.
Williams’ 77th minute strike gave the Bulls a lifeline, though, and with two minutes remaining he completed a memorable comeback.
In the key game for Hereford’s play-off chances the hosts started brightly with Jid Okeke’s cross picking out Kieran Phillips in the box after 22 minutes who flicked on for Alex Babos but his effort was saved by Aleksander Petrovic.
Okeke was in action again a few moments later after he was found by Jordan Lyden, seeing his initial effort blocked before a follow up strike had to be tipped over the bar by Petrovic.
The Bucks responded in the 33rd minute when the ball dropped to De Girolamo on the edge of the area whose half-volley was saved acrobatically by Curtis Pond.
De Girolamo would find the net on the stroke of half-time when Ben Andreucci’s run into the box saw him pick out the striker who slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
The Bulls sought an equaliser in the second half and nearly found it when Nathan Cameron was picked out by a free-kick on the hour mark with his header flying just wide of the post.
Against the run of play the visitors extended their lead in the 70th minute when a breakdown in communication between Howkins and Pond saw the defender’s back pass trickle into his own net.
Substitute Williams pulled a goal back seven minutes later after a header from Sean Etaluku sold Petrovic short, allowing the marksman to pounce and slot the ball home from a tight angle.
Buxton had a chance to seal the game in the 82nd minute when Howkins’ mistimed header saw Eoin McKeown through on goal but his chip didn't have the required loft to beat Pond.
The comeback was complete four minutes into stoppage time after a long throw into the box dropped to Williams who slotted the ball into the back of the net to draw Hereford level.
Williams had a chance to win it in the 96th minute when a ball forward from Pond found the striker inside the box but he was unable to keep his lob over the onrushing Petrovic down.
