HEREFORD boss Paul Caddis is hoping that his budget can be stretched to secure the signing of winger Yusifu Ceesay.
The 29-year-old pacey left midfielder joined Hereford before Christmas last year and made an instant impact in the side.
However, he decided not to re-sign in the summer to explore options playing abroad.
Ceesay was back at Edgar Street on Saturday and played the second half in their pre-season victory against West Brom under-21s.
Afterwards Caddis explained the financial situation which may prevent them from signing him.
"Ceesay and myself have got a very open relationship," said Caddis. "We've always been honest.
"When I addressed supporters at the end of the season I made it very clear that Ceesay wanted to go abroad.
“He's still got that idea of going abroad. However he has got to move his family and stuff like that.
"He wants to be at the club, if he’s going to be in England then he’s going to be at the club.
“I want to sign him but we had a budget to work with and as a manager of a football club I can't wait for players.
"I want to sign Ceesay, Ceesay wants to be here. However we're not quite in a situation to get it over the line.
"We're hoping we can get some decent attendances over the next couple of pre-season games and we'll see if there is any more coming through Squad Builder that can try and help us.
"The Board has maximised what they can give us and we're appreciative of that.
"But at the same time I had a job to do, I had to bring players in, I had to get a team on the pitch.
"Let's make it clear, I want to sign Ceesay and Ceesay wants to be here. At the moment it's not possible."
