BORDER rivals Knighton Town and Kington Town served-up an entertaining local derby on Friday night at Bryn-y-Castell as the visitors prevailed 2-1 in their pre-season clash.

It was the Radnor Robins who broke the deadlock in the opening minute when Callum Stead latched onto a well-timed pass before sliding the ball past visiting custodian Liam Griffiths.

Kington Town levelled the scores eight minutes before the interval when Sam Davies fired home.

The decisive goal arrived in the 67th minute when Davies netted his second of the evening by arrowing a 25-yard drive into the top corner of the net.

Wellington continued their preparations for the upcoming season as they faced Lock Stock Ardan North East club Radnor Valley in a pre-season friendly at the Kensal Ground.

The hosts opened the scoring when a 10th minute corner was taken quickly and Freddie Fox's subsequent cross from out near the left touchline flew over everyone in the penalty area and inside the far post.

Wellington doubled their lead via Sam Pearson's 21st minute penalty before the Hellenic League newcomers pulled further ahead in the 33rd minute after breaking quickly down the left flank and the subsequent cross was volleyed home at the far post by Sam Griffiths.

The scoring was completed with four minutes remaining on the clock as Wellington added a fourth goal when Caden Allport netted from close range after the Goats were caught out on the break.

Wellington took advantage of Ewyas Harold's inactivity to move three points clear at the summit of the HES Plumbing and Electrical Herefordshire FA Veterans League following a 9-0 win over Fownhope at the SSAFA County Ground.

Wellington broke the deadlock in the ninth minute when Kenny Styles lifted the ball over his shoulder and into the far corner of the net after the Fownhope defence failed to clear a cross from the left wing.

The new league leaders doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute when Mike Olive was on hand to convert a Styles pull back from the byline.

Styles netted his second of the game with a close range shot on the turn five minutes before the interval before Will Perkins had time to add another goal before the half-time whistle courtesy of a low 25-yard drive.

The Tangerines went nap when Tom Herbert curled a 20-yard shot into the top corner of the net six minutes following the restart.

Styles rolled back the years to complete his hat-trick in the 55th minute after converting an Olive pull back at the near post.

Wellington first team assistant manager Ian Smith headed home from a 66th minute cross on left flank before netting his second goal with a close-range finish two minutes later. The scoring was completed with seven minutes through Olive.
