HEREFORD have named defender Lewis Hudson as their captain for the forthcoming season.
The 25-year-old full-back signed an 18-month contract with Hereford in January after signing from league rivals Rushall.
“From the day we brought him in he’s been exceptional,” Hereford boss Paul Caddis told the club’s website.
“He’s on the front foot, he’s aggressive, he’s loud, has quality in possession and he’s a really popular lad.”
Hudson told the club’s website that he was ‘over the moon’ to be given the role ahead of their friendly against Birmingham City under-21s on Saturday.
“As you can imagine, I’m delighted to be named captain of Hereford Football Club and would like to thank the gaffer for placing his trust in me,” said Hudson.
“It’s a fantastic honour for me. Hereford is a massive club, a club full of history and I’m happy to be a part of that history.
We’re forming a real sense of togetherness this year, and all of us are pushing in the same direction for a really successful year.
“The manager is massive on positivity and togetherness and I’ve just got to echo what he tells us. I’m just the link between the manager and the players and I’m happy to do that.”
Hudson proceeds defender Nathan Cameron who left the club in the summer.
“I was here for 15 games last season and Nathan (Cameron), you could see his leadership skills and we leaned on him for experience at times during the season.
“I learnt from that massively. I’ve had a lot of captains over the years, you’ve got to have your own style, but I’ve definitely picked something up from Nathan.
“During my time here, Nathan was a brilliant leader, and I’m honoured to follow in his footsteps.
