ISAAC Cooper netted a late winner as Hereford Pegasus secured a 3-2 victory on Monday night to beat a good Pershore Town side.
Pegasus came into the game buoyed by a 3-1 triumph against Worcester Raiders at the weekend and took a 27th minute lead as Mike Burgess struck from the edge of the penalty area, after some intricate play by Jordan Williamson and Carlos Moreira.
The visitors gained parity shortly after the half-time break when Kirk Layton scored from the penalty spot.
Less than two minutes later, Cooper scored the first of his brace from the penalty spot to restore the advantage for the home side.
The played flowed from end to end with both sides creating goal scoring opportunities as the game remained there to be won.
With nine minutes of normal time remaining momentum swung as Pershore levelled through Aiden Clark.
However, neither side was prepared to settle for a single point and, it was Pegasus who broke the deadlock and the hearts of the travelling fans.
The hosts were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty box. This was taken by Cooper and the ball was deflected out of reach of goalkeeper Ryan Young.
This followed success against Worcester Raiders on Saturday when Pegasus gave home debuts to Sam Rawlings, Harrison Iddles and Cooper.
There was a new face in goal with Jenson Kilroy a Walsall FC loanee replacing the injured Matt Gwynne.
It took Peggy just four minutes to open the scoring when Kane Kahaki headed home a Carlos Moreira corner kick.
Midway through the half Kilroy made an important stop in the Pegasus goal as he palmed the ball over the crossbar.
Ten minutes after the break Pegasus increased the advantage when a Cooper free-kick was partly cleared, Jordan Williamson collected the ball before passing to Harry Pitman.
The man of the match, cut inside before curling the ball into the corner of the goal.
Raiders continued to push forward in search of a way back into the game.
However, as the home defence quelled an attack, Pitman cleared the ball to Cooper, who beat his marker before guiding the ball past the advancing goalkeeper Charlie Emery.
Deep into stoppage time, Raiders scored a consolation goal through substitute Ben Senogo.
Last week Pegasus gained a point in a 1-1 draw against Sporting Club Inkberrow at the Recreation Ground with a goal from Moreira.
Westfields suffered a week to forget, after being beaten 2-0 at a youthful Longlevens side on Saturday despite having chances themselves.
