ISAAC Cooper scored a second half winner as Hereford Pegasus came back from a goal down to beat Westfields 2-1 in the Hellenic League Premier derby.

A crowd of 307 spectators watched the Hereford derby match at the KGD Stadium.

It was Westfields who broke the deadlock after 10 minutes, following a misplaced header in midfield, which allowed Cawley Cox to be played through on goal before lashing the ball past goalkeeper Jesen Kilroy.

The hosts drew level six minutes before the interval when Harrison Iddles headed home from close range after Carlos Moreira's cross deflected into his path.

Hellenic League leaders Pegasus were handed the opportunity to take the lead for the first time in the 72nd but Moreira's penalty was well saved by Kieran Blackburn in the visitor's goal.

However, the Allpay Park club were not so fortunate two minutes later when Cooper was played through on goal and beat Blackburn at his near post from a narrow angle to seal the points.

Just two days earlier Westfields were well beaten 4-0 in their home FA Vase 1st Round Qualifying Tie against old rivals AFC Wulfrunians.

Fields ended the game playing with nine men as second half substitutes Cam Davies and Ben Brooks received their marching orders.

It was Westfields second cup exit in the space of five days and Westfields have only themselves to blame.

The hosts missed several good chances in the first half through Cox and Brandon Jennings.

Then right on half-time the visitors snatched the lead when Jake Webb fired home a 20-yard free-kick to give AFC Wulfrunians a 1-0 interval lead .

After the break the Wolverhampton visitors increased their lead through Brad Lawley then as Westfields failed to mark tight at a corner Craig Tucker headed home unchallenged to put the visitors 3-0 ahead.

Westfields then lost substitute Davies with a second yellow card before Brooks was sent off for a reckless challenge.

Fields were then 4-0 down when Nathan Walker netted from the penalty spot after a foul in the Westfields penalty area.

Pegasus’ fine start to the Hellenic Premier continued last week when they ran out 3-1 winners at Longlevens.

Pegasus took the lead when a Cooper free-kick enabled Moreira to head home.

Shortly afterwards, a fierce shot by Jordan Williamson crashed off the crossbar and Matt James scored from close range.

Eight minutes into the second half, Pegasus netted a third on the counter attack through Iddles.

Longlevens huffed and puffed but, the visiting defence held firm until the 90th minute when former Pegasus player Lewis Rose scored a consolation goal.

Westfields are next in action on Friday night at Lydney Town, while Hereford Pegasus host Slimbridge on Monday and Wellington are at home to Kidlington Reserves on Saturday.
