EASTNOR Cricket Club under-15s beat a strong Brockhampton side to lift the HCB under-15s Cup.

In a Hundred format game, Eastnor won the toss and chose to bat.

With strong support from captain Jonty Gatherer and clean hitting from Henry Hellyar, Harry Bond's classy unbeaten 53 proved the foundation of the challenging target of 123 that Eastnor set for the hosts to win.

Brockhampton's reply got off to a good start, with Oliver Daw and Griff Bubb scoring intelligently, before a couple of run outs, and some tight bowling, stalled progress.

Miserly death bowling from Ted Rose and Harry Bond saw the Eastnor team to victory.

The win was particularly special for Eastnor as a blub because it delivered a trophy to retiring under-15s coach Stuart Gatherer in his final game in his role.

He and his coaching mentor Annabel were commended for giving ‘so much time and energy to the club over the past years’ that it was fitting to see the team deliver some farewell silverware for their coach.

The Final, hosted at a Brockhampton looking at its best in the late summer sunshine, was played with excellent spirit between the two fiercely competitive sides.

Elsewhere, in senior cricket Brockhampton sit just two points above the Worcestershire County League Premier relegation zone with three matches remaining.

Brockhampton suffered a disappointing 83-run home defeat against bottom half side Pedmore at The Parks on Saturday.

After electing to bat the visitors hit a reasonable total of 206 all out off 40.2 overs thanks largely to a knock of 79 by Zach Porter.

Sam Didcote was the pick of the Brock bowlers taking 5-44, while Alex Lovell also chipped in with 3-18.

However, only five Brockhampton batman reached double figures as the hosts were bowled out for 123 off 34.2 overs.

Bromyard remain bottom after another defeat, despite running Bromsgrove close as they sit 29 points from safety.

Chasing a target of 172-9 the hosts were boosted by a half-century for Rob Willis. However, only James Wilson could contribute with 34 in the lower order as they fell 11 runs short.

Bartestree & Lugwardine sit 11 points above the Division One drop zone, after an incredible run chase at Halesowen that left them just two runs short of victory.

Having held fifth placed Halesown to 207, a fine batting display by Ed Milner with a half-century and a captain's innings of 65 by Ryan Trattell, took them within touching distance of what could have been a memorable win.

Burghill, Tillington and Weobley are reasonably safe from danger in Division One, but suffered an away defeat at the hands of Ombersley seconds.

The hosts set a target of 207-9 which the Herefordshire visitors fell 58 runs short of.
