HEREFORD FC bounced back from a midweek defeat to earn a hard fought point at Spennymoor Town.

Both sides spent significant periods of the game on the front foot but neither were able to create clear goalscoring opportunities, with Moors Captain Rob Ramshaw and Hereford’s Montel Gibson going closest to breaking the deadlock for the two sides, respectively.

Hereford responded to early pressure on 21 minutes when Yusifu Ceesay found Gibson 25 yards out from goal but the now-departed striker could only fire his effort over the bar.

The Moors continued to threaten seven minutes later when Reece Staunton rounded Aaron Skinner before finding Ramshaw in the box but a fine block by Matt Preston denied his effort.

Additional defensive work was required by the Bulls six minutes later when the ball fell to Isaac Fletcher in the area but Sammy Robinson was on hand to block the midfielder's shot.

The home side went close to opening the scoring when Ramsahaw’s header dropped to Michael Ledger in the 37th minute, with his volleyed effort flying inches wide of the post.

Hereford began the second half on the front foot, with Ceesay driving at the Spennymoor box before firing a shot not too far wide of the mark on 50 minutes.

A chance fell the way of Gibson just past the hour mark when Robinson’s free-kick picked him out in the box but he was unable to direct his header goalwards.

With the clock approaching 80 minutes Ramshaw almost saw his looping cross nestle into the back of net but a backtracking Aaron Chapman was on hand to tip it over the bar.

A final opportunity fell to Spennymoor in the 89th minute when the ball was laid into the path of an onrushing Ryan Bartley but his effort took a deflection on its way to flying wide.

There was a penalty appeal from the home side deep into added time when the ball struck Robinson’s arm inside the box, but the referee was unmoved and waved play on.
