HAY St Mary’s dramatically snatched victory from the jaws of defeat when they defeated Penybont United 5-4 in a remarkable MMP with Norman Lloyd Central Wales League (South) encounter under the Forest Road floodlights.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the ninth minute when they ball was played through to Owain Rowlands who beat Ewan Peel at his near post.
Rowlands doubled his tally after 23 minutes after Louis Davies' initial effort from the edge of the penalty area was blocked and not cleared by the Hay St Mary's defence.
The Polecats added a third goal courtesy of skipper Alfie Stonfield who headed past Peel at the far post from a corner six minutes later.
United extended their lead further after the interval when Cian Bufton was on hand to convert Rowlands' low cross from the right side of the penalty area following a swift break by the Polecats to lead 4-0.
The Saints commenced their comeback in the 57th minute courtesy of Dan Meredith's low 20-yard drive.
The deficit was reduced further 10 minutes later when Ricky Lynes successfully converted a penalty after referee Eddie Pryce showed Oscar Davies a red card for a handball in the incident that led to the awarding of the spot-kick.
Hay St Mary's netted their third goal through Rueben Rodell after United goalkeeper Casey Hanby had spilled Gabriel Moore's 69th minute free-kick.
The hosts were on level terms 10 minutes later when Lynes headed home his second goal of the evening after his initial effort was saved.
There was still time for the Saints to find a winning goal, with five minutes remaining on the clock, as Charlie Ward netted from close-range.
Meanwhile, Westfields picked up an away point from their trip to Fairford Town which ended 1-1.
The hosts went ahead after just 10 minutes when Charlie Holliday smashed a fierce drive low past the diving Keiron Blackburn.
However, Fields were level within three minutes when Brandon Jennings met Dan Stoneman’s corner and headed back across the goal for leading goals corer Cawley Cox.
The game went from end to end and Blackburn twice made point blank saves to keep Westfields in the game before Cox tested the home goalkeeper at the other end.
After the break both sides went in search for the winning goal but Blackburn was in top form together with good defensive play from Harrison Summers and Cam Davies.
Westfields also went close but Davies’ header was scrambled clear.
Meanwhile, Hereford Pegasus have lost their position at the top of the Hellenic Premier following a 2-0 defeat at Cirencester Town, with Aiden Bennett scoring both first half goals.
