A HEREFORDSHIRE athletics club are celebrating after one of its coaches scooped a regional honour.

Hereford and County Athletics Club coach Brian Morgan won Club Leader of the Year at the England Athletics West Midlands Regional Volunteering Awards recently. 

Morgan has gone above and beyond supporting the refurbishment of the Hereford Athletics Track and has worked tirelessly to ensure the project was completed in time, he even found time to modernise the clubs portacabin and storage areas.

As well as being a club official, a coach and a committee member Morgan has recently introduced the junior section to the Hereford & Borders Cross-Country League which has become a really popular set of fixtures with junior athletes in the county.

Hereford and County Athletics recently hosted the Senior Midland League on their new track.

Senior Hereford and County athletes turned out in force and achieved fantastic results.

The highlight of the day was the mixed 4 x 400m team with the quartet of Livi Harwood, Pat Morgan, Rafi Wilkinson and Eva Tyler securing a new club record with a comfortable first place.

The youngsters recorded a time of 3-49 which is just outside the world rankings for the mixed relay.

The female athletes competing for Hereford were Caitlin Fathers, Livi Harwood, Romerleigh Parker, Eva Tyler, Issy North, Macy Balderson, Lily Edwards, Tessa Morgan, Maisie Wood, Charlotte Colbert, Ruth Wells, Martha Formby, Victoria Rossiter, Esme Benjamin and Hannah Barnes.

Pulling on the green and white Hereford vest for the boys was Harry Vaughan, Finlay Symonds, Patrick Morgan, Rafi Wilkinson, Daniel Kennedy, Kacper Dumara and Marc Flannery.
