HEREFORD had to settle for a point against King’s Lynn Town after Lawson D’Ath’s 87th minute goal was ruled out.

Paul Caddis’ side were looking to improve their home form and the best chances of the match fell the way of the home team, with Yusifu Ceesay close to giving his side the lead on two separate occasions before D’Ath’s free-kick was ruled out for offside three minutes from the end of normal time.

Ceesay was involved in the first opening of the game when he was found out wide by Tate Campbell on eight minutes, King’s Lynn’s goalkeeper Paul Jones was equal to his low shot and saved comfortably.

A free-kick three minutes later allowed the Linnets to put the ball into the hosts’ box for the first time, with full-back Freddie Sass directing his header onto the roof of the net.

Hereford had a free-kick of their own just past the half hour mark when D'Ath whipped his effort from the edge of the area just over the crossbar.

The 40th minute saw the Bulls on the attack, with a cross into the area narrowly evading Ahkeem Rose before Ceesay saw his effort blocked by a blue and yellow shirt.

Caddis’ side had a great chance to open the scoring in first-half stoppage time when fine work from Rose saw him slide in an open Ceesay, but the winger’s shot lacked the required power to beat Jones.

Both sides continued to search for the opener in the second-half, with Hereford going close with Ceesay header just wide.

King’s Lynn were inches away from taking the lead on 65 minutes when Cody Johnson’s dipping effort from 25 yards struck the apex between the post and bar before being cleared.

The Bulls were back on the front foot 11 minutes later when Jones parried Rose’s shot into the path of Matwasa, but the former Brackley man was unable to convert from a tight angle.

Hereford thought they had broken the deadlock in the 87th minute when D’Ath’s free-kick found the back of the net but the linesman’s flag was raised for an alleged offside against Matt Preston.

The home side almost won it eight minutes into added time when Andy Williams leapt highest in the box to head goalwards, but a fine one-handed save from Jones denied the striker.
