ONE handicapper David Marshall came out on top at Ross-on-Wye Golf Club held their annual Seniors Championship to determine who became the Club's 2024 Seniors Champion.

The competition for men seniors' members aged over 55 continues to receive outstanding support and 115 competitors took part.

It was Marshall, who only joined the Ross Club two years ago, who was crowned Ross Seniors Champion for the second successive year.

Once again as in 2023, Marshall posted an impressive gross 72 par round which has only been matched twice before in the history of the competition.

Marshall’s medal round in the Seniors Championship to win the Peter Carton-Kelly Cup included four birdies on his front nine holes and another birdie on the challenging 17th hole was a clincher.

Michael Burris with a gross 74 medal round came closest to catching Marshall and meant that the 2022 Seniors Champion Steve Woods with a gross 75 and the runner-up in 2023 had to settle for third place this time.

Woods was followed by Jason Bolton, Steve Wallbank and Paul Stone with gross 76's.

In the net handicap division, to determine the winner of the Marsh Allan Trophy, it was the closest of tussles and count-back decided Steve Bartholomew as the winner after himself, Ross Club Captain Mark Whitmore and Kevin Powell, a winner of the Trophy in 2020, all finished with net 68 medal scores.
