WESTFIELDS have suffered three league defeats on the bounce in the Hellenic Premier.
Fields suffered a 1-0 away defeat to promotion hopefuls Highworth on Saturday, following Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Sporting Inkberrow.
Westfields gave a hardworking performance but were beaten by a 12th minute goal when Luke Whellan got on the end of a defence splitting pass and coolly beat the advancing goalkeeper Kerion Blackburn for what was the match winning goal.
The visitors had chances to draw level when both Dan Stoneman and Isaac Richards had opportunities before the break to put Westfields level at the interval.
After the interval the visitors gained the upper hand, but the Highworth defence stood firm to keep out efforts from Archie Muirhead and Nathan Davies.
Cawley Cox lead the line well in search of an equaliser but it was Westfields man of the match Cam Davies who prevented the hosts from extending their lead with two last ditch tackles late in the game.
Fields dropped more points on Tuesday night when they were beaten 2-0 at Pershore Town.
The hosts took a 15th minute lead when Bailey Fuller drove forwards before sliding through Aidan Clark to finish.
Fields searched for a response and Ben Brooke saw his shot saved before Isaac Richards had an effort blocked.
However, it was Pershore who struck again before the break courtesy of James Baldwin with an instinctive finish.
Broadband specialist Airband have renewed their deal as principal partner sponsorship of Westfields for the 2024-25 football season.
The renewal will see Airband continue to partner with the grassroots club for a third season.
The partnership has contributed to the growth of Westfields’ junior section from 11 to 17 junior girl’s/boy’s teams in the last two seasons with a clearer emphasis on creating a pathway for both boys and girls to eventually play for the club’s senior men and women’s teams.
“Airband is committed to supporting communities across our Midlands heartlands and we’re pleased to have the chance to partner with Westfields FC once more,” said James Hyland of Airband.
“They are a great community club and central to our sports sponsorship network. We hope the Fields can have a successful season across the men’s, women’s and junior boy’s and girl’s teams.”
