HEREFORD suffered a second league defeat of the season and finished with 10 men during a 2-0 defeat at Warrington Town.
Evan Gums opened the scoring on 22 minutes for the hosts before Sammy Robinson was shown a straight red card for Hereford moments later.
Paul Caddis’ side battled valiantly and almost found an equaliser, before being hit on the counter-attack in the closing moments and Josh Amis scored.
Despite having a poor league record Warrington gave their visitors a warning early on with Jay Harris sending a volleyed effort just wide.
Meanwhile, Hereford were full of confidence after back-to-back away wins and striker Ahkeem rose tested the palms of goalkeeper Dan Atherton with his 16th minute effort.
However, it was Warrington who went ahead on the 22nd minute when Connor Woods' free-kick rattled the crossbar before Gums headed the rebound home.
An uphill battle was made tough for Hereford a minute later when, recently contracted player, Robinson went sliding through his opponent.
The referee showed np hesitation and went straight for his red card.
Despite being a man down Hereford were the side probing for an equaliser and Yusifu Ceesay cut the ball back which was deflected into the path of Tate Campbell who fired over.
Alex Babos was next to test the Warrington goal with a powerful effort from just outside the box which rattled the woodwork.
Just 15 seconds into the second half Andy Williams found Babos whose effort was saved down low by Atherton.
Warrington still looked dangerous on the break and Matty McDonald turned his Hereford defender before sending a low effort wide.
Bulls’ goalkeeper Aaron Chapman was forced back into action on 58 minutes to deny a powerful Woods effort.
Hereford sensed an equaliser as the game drew to its conclusion and goalkeeper Atherton denied Kyle Howkins from a set piece.
Atherton was then forced into a double save, denying Campbell’s effort through a crowded box and then also the rebound.
However, Warrington went straight up the other end but McDonald fired over with the goal at his mercy.
Chapman then denied Bohan Dixon until moments later Amis fired home a second goal to end the contest.
Hereford are back at Edgar Street this weekend when they welcome Farsley Celtic.
