HEREFORD boss Paul Caddis said he warned his side of the ‘wounded animal’ of Chester ahead of their 3-0 defeat.
Chester came into the game following back-to-back defeats and made several changes to their side coming into the crunch tie.
The Seals boss Calum McIntyre got the response he wanted with Charlie Caton opening the scoring within the opening minute.
Tom Peers doubled their lead in the second half before Caton completed the win.
"We are really disappointed," said Caddis. "We conceded three goals, I think the total distance of the three goals was about nine yards, all inside our six-yard box, we're really disappointed with that
"You come out and start the game, after 50 seconds you find yourselves 1-0 down.
"It's everything we warned, we spoke to the players. Chester were a wounded animal today, let's be absolutely brutal and honest.
"They lost last week and we knew that they going to try and get a reaction.
"I don't normally do it but I planned out the 15 minutes on the board.
“It was going to be hectic, they were going to put balls in the box, they were going to try and start really fast, get the crowd behind them and they went ahead after 50 seconds.
"I still think we controlled large parts of the game and we were decent enough without really creating anything.
“We need to be a bit braver in the final third, we didn’t create enough. I thought they did a job on us to be honest.
“We got into decent areas without actually creating anything. I don’t think the game slipped away from us until late on when they got a third goal.
“Chapman has made a made a couple of good saves, obviously that’s his job to do that.
“Chester deserved to win the game overall and got the reaction they were looking for.”
Caddis also said that his side need to concentrate for the full 90 minutes after conceding in the opening seconds.
“The game starts as soon as that whistle blows and the game finishes as soon as the whistle blows,” Caddis added.
“It’s that old cliché. I said to them at half-time, minute one we’ve conceded a goal and minute 45 we conceded a chance from a corner – both ends of the half.
