HEREFORDSHIRE football star Jarrod Bowen scored his first senior international goal for England during their 5-0 demolition against Ireland.

The 27-year-old, who started his senior career with Hereford United, made his first England appearance two years ago.

The West Ham star was brought on from the bench in the 75th minute and 30 seconds later fired past the Irish goalkeeper with his first touch of the ball.

Interim boss Lee Carsley was in charge of his last England game and saw the country promoted to the top league of the Nations League.

“It was a great evening for a lot of the players,” said Bowen.

“I wanted the England team to be exciting to watch, to be attacking. I see them day in and day out on the training ground and now people see it.

“Any challenge you put in front of these players they want to overcome.

“I said to him (Bowen) when he went on to just shoot every time he got the ball. He has got such quality, I think sometimes he can be a bit unselfish and makes sure he gets his goals and his assists.

“That’s what he deserves."
