HEREFORD have bought in American striker Declan McGlynn for the ‘foreseeable future’.

The 24-year-old forward came into their squad for Saturday’s 3-0 victory against Rushall Olympic and played the final nine minutes.

McGlynn played for America at under-19 level and previously played with Ballard and Redhawks in the States.

Hereford boss Paul Caddis said his new forward was ‘brilliantly gifted’ and was brought his attention by the assistant manager at Birmingham City.

"We tried to register him before the Marine home game, but because he's American with an Irish passport it took a bit of time,” said Caddis.

"He’s brilliantly gifted, brilliant with left and right foot, he has just got something completely different.

"I did say that we were trying to shop in a market that no-one really recognises.

"The good thing is no-one will find out anything about Declan because we couldn't until we had actually seen him.

“We had a bit of footage, but we get sent footage all the time. I could send footage from me playing 10 years ago and you can make yourself look good in footage.

"He's really good player, he's fitting in really well with the group.

"The thing that pleases me most, and you try and do this sometimes as a manager, you try and gauge the reaction of the players and the players are really impressed.

"He's putting balls in with his left, putting balls in with his right and it's different for him so we've got to be patient with him.

“It’s a big challenge for him in terms of it’s a different environment and style of football. He’s come in and has been excellent, we’re really pleased with him and he’ll be an important player for us.

"He's with us for the foreseeable future and we'll try and get as many minutes into him as we can.
