A GOAL from Geraint Edwards gave Fownhope a 1-0 win over Vaga in an exciting final in the Dave Gilbert Memorial over-40s six-a-side football tournament.
Fownhope booked their place in the final after progressing through their group and beating Socialites (1-0) and Lookalikes (2-0).
Vaga had secured their final spot after making it through the group stages and then beating Old Samba Boys in a penalty shoot-out and Civil Service Geriatrics (2-0).
Eighteen teams took part in the tournament which was deemed a huge success and has raised around £3,000 for the MacMillan Renton Appeal.
The ages of the players ranged from 40 years to a few who were just short of their 70th birthday.
Hereford United Giantkillers Colin Addison, Ricky George and Dudley Tyler took part in the competition.
Dave Gilbert’s daughters, Rachel and Emily Gilbert, made the post-final presentations.
An under-16 penalty shoot-out competition was also held, which was won by Charlie Stokes.
