BROMYARD recorded their second win of the season to keep the pressure on the leading clubs at the top of Division 1 of the Crusader Worcestershire County League. They eased home by five wickets, with 11 balls to spare after bowling Barnards Green out for 139 in 42 overs.

Five of the home side’s batsmen reached double figures against the potent attack of Zahid Saeed (5-23) and Pete Whittenbury (3-33), but Tim Williams (32), batting at number nine was top scorer.

Ashley Bullock (45) and Saeed (35 no) batted sensibly to steer Bromyard home in the 56th over.

Barry Rhodes scored a century and took three wickets as Bromyard completed a double over Barnards Green with a 27-run home win in the League Evening KO Cup on Monday night.

Eastnor hammered 295-7 at Norton Barracks when they batted first but had to settle for a losing draw as Worcester finished on 190-4.

Atiq (162 not out) dominated the Eastnor innings after an early wobble. Arshad (17) and Steve Emery (37) assisted him in setting up the final onslaught.

Shahid (30) helped him to plunder 115 runs off the final 10 overs. Atiq struck 20 fours and six sixes in a dazzling display of strokeplay.

After losing an early wicket, Worcester settled down to reach three figures without further loss at the drinks break. Faisal (3-39) then took three quick wickets and the home side settled for batting out time.

Monmouth suffered their first defeat in Division 2 when they went down by 32 runs at home after bowling Pedmore out for 119. Only Charlie Bye (18) and Martin Newell (18) reached double figures as Monmouth were skittled out for just 83 after slumping to 15-4 against the bowling of Andre Morais (7-26).

All looked well in the early part of the game. The Welshmen reduced Pedmore to 0-3 and the attack of Jon Roberts (5-43) and Ian Mackinlay (3-25) carried on to bowl them out in 40 overs.

Colwall leapt above Monmouth with a 72-run win at Coombs Wood.

Nick Panniers and Peter Butler both reached half-centuries as Colwall were bowled out in the final overs for 212. The home team struggled against the spin of Charlie Griffiths (7-53) and were dismissed for 140.

Wormelow moved into mid-table in Division 3 with a 51-run home win over Kidderminster 3rd.

Tim Boulter (58), Chris Powell (44 not out) and Bryan Pedersen (30) provided the majority of the runs as Wormelow reached 200-7 in their 50 overs. Powell turned out to be the star of the game, coming on as third-change bowler to produce the best spell of bowling for the club in 29 years. He took 8-44 from 16 overs to dismiss Kidderminster for 149.
