A FORMER Weobley High School pupil is helping organise a grass roots football show featuring the likes of Bryan Robson, Harry Redknapp and Graham Taylor.

Stephanie Main, who works for Sussex-based company VCM events.herefordtimes.com/" target="_blank">Events, will oversee the Grass Roots Football Live project, which kicks off at Birmingham’s NEC Arena later this month.

The 36-year-old, who also attended Hereford Sixth Form College, will oversee the logistics of a three-day event expected to attract around 15,000 visitors.

“This is my biggest challenge so far,” said Ms Main, who has worked in events.herefordtimes.com/" target="_blank">events at venues such as Earls Court and Wembley over the past eight years.

“I’ve been involved with two similar events.herefordtimes.com/" target="_blank">events before, in Coventry and London, but this year’s is around four times bigger.” The event, to be held between May 30 and June 1, features a skills zone, two stadiums where visitors can watch top coaches at work, an academy for children to learn from Premier League coaches, a street soccer area and various seminars.

There will also be the chance for clubs to buy equipment such as goalposts, training tops and trophies.

“Last year I saw a lot of groups from Herefordshire at the event and I hope to see some more again this time,” she added.

Ms Main represented Herefordshire at cross-country, hockey and netball. She was also a member of West Hereford Pony Club.

And the Herefordian will soon be renewing acquaintances with friends and family in the county. As soon as the NEC show has finished, she is moving back to Herefordshire, from where she hopes to establish an event consultancy business.
