TARMAC League Champions, Kington, strengthened their hold on top spot in the league with a maximum points win against Kingsland.
After their nail-biting finish the previous week when Kington scraped a home win by one shot after losing on three rinks, this week’s match saw Kington triumph with a 54-shot win.
All the Kington rinks won by comfortable double-figure margins led by the rink skipped by D Bithell with a 29-9 shot win.
Weobley, in second place, missed the chance to close the gap when they lost by 36 shots at Hereford.
Hereford, with three winning rinks, came off the green with their second win of the season and so easily held on to fourth place in the league.
With the two Hereford rinks skipped by Olly Cox and David Magness winning by 18 shots, Weobley had to be content with the points for their only winning rink Kingsland ended an unhappy week with their second defeat when visitors St Martin’s secured an 18-shot away win to move into third place in the league.
The home rink skipped by Sandra Palmer, with a 14-shot win, gave Kingsland a great start but St Martin’s overcame a determined effort with narrow four and five-shot wins on two other rinks.
But a 16-shot win for the St Martin’s rink skipped by Gloria Godwin saw the visitors to their first away win of the year.
St Martin’s, at this early stage in the season, are already the only undefeated club and, with games in hand on the two clubs above them in the league, are looking to maintain their run.
Earlier in the week, Hereford recorded their first away win of the season at Hay with a narrow four- shot win, with the clubs sharing rink honours, each winning on two rinks.
Hereford’s rink skipped by Olly Cox again led the visitors to their win with a 25-10 shot victory, but this was answered by Hay with a 13-shot win on S Smith’s rink.
The remaining two rinks were won by four shots to Hereford and by two shots to Hay to give Hereford the match by four shots.
RESULTS: Hay 74 Hereford 78 (Home Rinks W2 D0 L2), Hereford 97 Weobley 61 (W3 D0 L1), Kington 104 Kingsland 50 (W4 D0 L0), Kingsland 70 St Martins 83 (W1 D0 L3).
