COLWALL met at their clubhouse, after their final Worcestershire County League fixture was washed out, to celebrate their successful season, thank all their volunteers who played a key role in that success and hand out their senior trophies.
Chairman Gary King reminded the members that the club had set a goal of Birmingham League Division 2 status within six years of leaving the West of England Premier League pyramid to join the Worcestershire County League set-up three seasons ago.
This season, the club gained promotion to Division 1 but they have a lot of work to do to move up those extra two rungs.
The aim now is to develop their younger players and introduce some new experienced talent. The club’s success is not limited to senior men’s cricket.
The under-11 side won the South Worcestershire section of the Bishop’s Trophy while the under-13s reached the West Midlands finals of the MCC Spirit of Cricket championship.
The under-16 squad produced an outstanding performance in the prestigious Midlands Cricket Conference competition, and the ladies team also won their league.
The senior awards went to: first team batsman, Nick Panniers; first team bowler, Charlie Griffiths; second team player of the year, Tom Coleman; third team player of the year, Aaron Lawrence; young player of the year, Odge Davey.
