HEREFORDSHIRE Schools Under-15 started their campaign in the West Midlands Schools League with a thrilling 2-1 win home victory over Brierley Hill & Dudley.
Herefordshire fell behind to an early goal but soon levelled with a superb strike from Zac Sirrell.
Sirrell gave the county the lead midway through the second half with another excellent shot from outside the box.
The visitors piled on the pressure in the closing stages but Herefordshire’s defence held firm with a committed and skilful display.
Herefordshire Under-14 suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Halesowen & Stourbridge in their league match at Kingstone School, while a goal from Josh Tompkins (St Mary’s) could not stop Herefordshire Under-13 from slipping to a 3-1 defeat to visiting Nuneaton.
