Bradwell Belles 2 Hereford Phoenix Ladies 3.
SKIPPER Emily Gilbert scored twice in Phoenix’s first game in the West Midlands League Premier Division.
Gilbert gave the visitors a flying start when she threw herself into a melee to force the ball over the line.
The Hereford club could have extended their lead but new signing Tania Wylde had a goal-bound shot cleared of the line.
The Stoke-on-Trent outfit made a strong opening to the second half and scored twice in quick succession to take the lead.
However, Phoenix showed character and finally started to use the pace of their strikers, Laura Davies and Emily Lovelock.
Davies twice went close before being fouled inside the area and Gilbert scored from the penalty spot.
Charlotte Criddle and Wylde were now dominant in the midfield and supported by player-of-the-match Rebecca Edwards.
Davies hit a deserved winner for Phoenix with a fine lob over the advancing Bradwell goalkeeper.
Stoke City Ladies 4 Pegasus Ladies 1.
PEGASUS were superb for the first 20 minutes of this West Midlands League Premier Division match at Stoke.
But Stoke took the lead with a mis-kicked cross and then scored two further goals to open up a 3-0 cushion before the interval.
Pegasus started the second half strongly and Simone Quinn reduced the deficit with a neat header after good work on the right from Mel Mayo and Nina Emery.
The visitors battled hard for a second goal before Stoke sealed the win with a fourth goal in the last minute to leave Pegasus with a point after two matches.
