CITY of Hereford SC have had their busiest pre-season in history with swimmers split into squads to attend selected competitions across the country.

The 14-day warm up started with a junior gala in Hereford when Gloucester City, Cinderford & District and Tewkesbury were in attendance.

City of Hereford juggled their squad to accommodate new swimmers, aiming to avoid selecting any regulars (unless necessary).

The gala was a huge success and, despite chasing Tewkesbury for the majority of the gala, a strong finish saw the Hereford juniors clinch the 8x25m girl/boy cannon and top club on the night.

Maximum points and first places were achieved by Chloe Williams – 9yrs freestyle, Harvey Harris – 10yrs breaststroke, Ellie Westoby – 9yrs breaststroke, Rhiannon Price – 10yrs backstroke, Megan Fitt – 12yrs freestyle, Connor Mclauchlan – 12yrs freestyle, Hugo Lemar – 9yrs backstroke, Niamh Massam-Vallely – 10yrs butterfly, Aaron Hinkley – 10yrs butterfly, Emily Roberts – 11yrs freestyle, Daniel Westoby – 12yrs breaststroke, Lucy Grimes – 9yrs butterfly, Jade Adcock – 10yrs freestyle, Jamie Westoby – 11yrs breaststroke and Alex Martin – 12yrs backstroke. The final points were; City of Hereford 144, Tewkesbury 139, Cinderford & District 120 and Gloucester City 64.

City of Hereford then hosted their novice club championships for their FISH squads (Feeder & Identification of Swimmers in Herefordshire).

A great turn out saw many young swimmers aged between 5-14yrs of age set new personal bests and/or achieve their first swimming medal(s).
