EASTNOR Cricket Club are hoping to be officially granted their historic promotion to the Birmingham & District Premier League this week.
The Herefordshire outfit have had an audit from league inspectors and were expecting to hear the decision last night (Wednesday).
Eastnor chairman Jim Sandford said: “The inspection seemed to go very well but we are still awaiting to hear officially. We are very hopeful that we will be accepted.”
Eastnor clinched promotion to Birmingham League Division 3 after winning the Crusader Worcestershire County League Division 1 title for the first time.
“We have had a committee meeting in the club where we discussed the prospect of promotion, and we have a good feeling about it,” said Sandford. “The first team were delighted and the second-team captain also felt very positive towards the promotion.”
Sandford, himself, is excited about the prospect of competing in the Birmingham League.
“It’s something I never thought would happen. The club has gone from strength to strength over the years.”
