JAMIE Wilde has become one of the youngest club champions at Ross-on-Wye GC.
He won a nerve-jangling 36-hole men’s final from teenager Nick Ellis by just one hole.
Wilde, who is 37 years old, enjoyed a two-hole lead after the first 18 holes but Ellis’ exceptional short game kept him in contention.
Wilde will probably consider that his overall consistency gave him the half on the final green to clinch the title by one hole.
Ellis had to settle for the runners-up prize but will be hoping to put his name on the club’s honours board in the near future.
