HOLDERS Westfields started their defence of the HFA County Challenge Cup with a 2-1 home win over lower-graded Sutton United on Tuesday.
Westfields began the first-round tie strongly and Jamie Edwards rattled a post with an early free-kick.
Former Sutton striker Danny Hill put Westfields ahead two minutes before the break and Mark Hibbard doubled Westfields’ lead from the penalty spot in the second half after Paul Allam was fouled.
Dan Herbert pulled a goal back with a late header.
Last year’s beaten finalists, Pegasus Juniors, romped into the next round with an 8-0 home drubbing of county rivals Bromyard Town.
Man-of-the-match Simon Gwynne fired in a hat-trick, while Rob Laurie (2), Liam Jones (2) and Anthony Robbins also scored.
Pegasus led 3-0 at half-time and then overpowered Bromyard in the second half.
